Autumn Excellence
October always feels like it flies by, but this year, it felt like I blinked and suddenly found myself halfway through the month. There's never enough time, but I still manage to burn the candle at both ends, trying to savor every moment.
We kicked off the month with a trip to Ohio to visit The Dent Schoolhouse, an incredible haunted house that absolutely lived up to the hype. The weekend continued with the Renaissance Fair, where I fulfilled a personal dream of wearing chainmail—goal unlocked!
My annual Halloween bash was an absolute blast. The night featured non-stop horror movies, a hot cheese nacho bar, a dance floor, and a crackling outdoor fire. Costumes were, of course, mandatory. My horror trivia team claimed first place for the second year in a row—an achievement I’m incredibly proud of.
Mike and I shared a picture-perfect day at the Irvington Halloween Festival. From the weather to the food and the unique vendors, everything about it was pure magic. On Devil's Night, the evening before Halloween, we ventured to Indy Scream Park for the first time and had a thrilling experience.
Halloween Day itself was my time to soak up every last spooky drop of the season. I started the morning carving pumpkins while watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show. That evening, I handed out candy to over 1,000 trick-or-treaters before wrapping up the month where we began—back in Ohio. This time, we hit King’s Island Haunt, indulging in blue ice cream, screaming on the roller coasters, and braving five haunted houses.
As the calendar flipped to November, it was bittersweet to say goodbye. Exhausted but content, I’m already scheming ways to make next October even more unforgettable.
